Most lesbian, gay, bisexual, LGB youth are happy and thrive during their adolescent years. Having a school that creates a safe and supportive learning environment for all students and having caring and accepting parents are especially important. Positive environments can help all youth achieve good grades and maintain good mental and physical health.
For anyone who has experienced the unthinkable, will forever be known for one powerful, yet devastating hashtag: MeToo. Seemingly overnight reports of inappropriate behaviors of high-profile celebrities, famous politicians, and influential business owners disgraced their careers while victims found strength through a burgeoning, unified voice. Sexual harassment in the workplace is not confined to Hollywood elites or Fortune corporations.
Two-thirds of 1, respondents to ENR's first-ever survey report an incident in construction-sector workplaces, but industry gender bias issues are not clearly understood, universally accepted or easily fixed, the analysis shows. More episodes of unwanted physical contact or biased treatment are being acknowledged and debated, and generating workforce and management interest as employers struggle to create cultures that will keep critical talent in place, push needed diversity and build the future pipeline. Duran, who also is mayor of West Hollywood, denied any wrongdoing and said that after 20 years with the chorus, he was planning to leave anyway. MeToo has been effective in focusing the eyes of the world on the problem of sexual harassment at work. We therefore conducted the first survey of its kind on this issue. Around seven out of ten LGBT workers experienced at least one type of sexual harassment at work 68 per cent and almost one in eight LGBT women 12 per cent reported being seriously sexually assaulted or raped at work. Government must act urgently to put the responsibility for tackling this problem where it belongs — with employers.
